So yeah, I’ve been doing random stuff recently… not much, just slacking and neglecting this site. Sorry to anyone who actually follows.

In other news, here are some updates!

I pre-ordered Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3, and I bought the Roxio Game Capture so I can stream my games more efficiently. Hopefully, my laptop can handle the everything I use it for, if not, I will have to invest in a new laptop. I will stream my improvements from day 1 to day Marvel 4 comes out. I will post a stream schedule later on; hopefully, me streaming my gameplay will cause me to improve and get feedback so that I can go compete.

EVO 2011

So yeah, Evo was HYPE!!! Glad I was there… now that it’s all over, BACK TO TRAINING! I met a lot of pros (Justin Wong, Daigo, Tokido, etc.) and a LOT more. They all gave me some friendly advice about playing and everything, so I will now train hard, and hopefully go back to Evo next year!

Anyways, I was a judge at Evo this year, was AWESOME, got some HYPE pools. Tokido was in my MvC3 pool that I judged, AND my BBCS2 pool. I have to say, it was amazing being a judge, you can meet and greet everyone from around the world.

All the Top 8′s were GREAT, everyone showed up, made every match the best of the best! Props to everyone!

YOU READ RIGHT, NO LIES THIS TIME! I will be at EVO this year! I will be going to Las Vegas on the 26th and be back on the 2nd. I will attend Evo, which is held at Rio Casino this year, and will watch the best of the best go against each other. Unfortunately, I suck, and cant make my mind up on who to use, I have decided to be a full-fledged spectator this year, and hope to meet some great players from across America. I want to get better at SSF4:AE (I have RALLY neglected this wonderful game), MvC3 (can anyone say super/ultimate?), and BBCS2 (though this will probably never happen). These all happen to be this years Evo games. Well, if want to meet up and chill over the course of Evo, feel free to let me know by comment. I will take lots of pictures! I have been assigned a challenge: “Make Daigo Umehara Smile”. If only that is possible… Daigo, if you are reading this, I hope you can teach me some stuff!

In other news, I will bring my console to Vegas with me, so if you get do get to Vegas early (like me) and are bored, hit me up, I’ll welcome any training partner.

Lies, lies, and more lies

About my Marvel team… I went to A-kon in Dallas last week, it was hype, got some good casuals in, got blown up with my new team. I’m going to add Jill back into my team, even though I do not own her, playing her at A-kon got me wanting her on my team again. So yeah, Jill/Dormammu/Zero is my current team.

In other news, congrats to TransientFaith again, this time grabbing 3rd at A-kon in BBCS2, repping TeamESP. I suck at BBCS2, so I didn’t sign up, maybe I will next time. Only time will tell…

In other news yet again, I AM GOING TO EVO, currently getting a few friends in the local area to road trip and book a room at the Rio, where EVO is held this year. LOOKING FORWARD TO GETTING BLOWN UP. Can’t wait to meet some pros and get some good lessons.

So yeah, playing online… 27-24 now… after being 24-17 at one point, getting that 25th win was not fun due to the amazing balance system this game has. I am a 9th Scout, yes, NOT Lord, for obvious reasons. I win a battle, I get no exp. I lose, I get no exp. See a trend? Maybe I need to learn the art of Plasma Beaming… maybe I need to lag less… or maybe I need a team that can counter lamers (which are 90% of the people I run into online…). So yeah, I want to change my team out and see if it makes a difference… and yes, I am still eliminating 17 of the 34 characters (Capcom exclusive team). So far, I am thinking about introducing Trish into my team, maybe Dante (though lag begs to differ), or maybe someone else. If anyone has any suggestions to teams, I am open to them.

BlazBlue Continuum Shift II PSP

As most of you may know, BlazBlue Continuum Shift II came out recently for PSP. Similarly, the patched ISO also has been dumped and distributed across the internet. BBCSII has some pretty cool features including Abyss Mode which is reminiscent of the good old Guilty Gear Accent Core Plus survival mode. Gallery Items are unlocked with ingame points and by leveling up your account (this can be done by doing versus battles, wireless versus, story, arcade, score, etc).

While BBCSII runs perfectly well (not quite, there is some slight lag for 1000 systems) on the PSP custom firmwares, it goes without saying that the d-pad is trash. The easy mod for D-Pad which involves including a filler piece to raise the D-Pad significantly improves the responsiveness of the inputs. Diagonals, quarter circles, and shoryus can be done much more consistently. But for those hardcore gamers, playing on a D-Pad is highly undesirable. Fightstick or bust amirite?

Dustloop has provided a great link to a starter guide for setting up your PSP to work with arcade sticks here, but for all you PSP-1000 users (myself included), even with the memory configuration, your game may still crash in battles. So for those unlucky souls out there, here’s how I got my game working with Remotejoylite and arcade stick.

Required Files:

Make sure you have custom firmware on your PSP. Open the pack and install PSP Driver B. This will allow your computer to detect your PSP outside of USB mode as long as the USB cord is connected.

Open the memory card in your PSP and go into the SEPLUGINS folder.
Write the following into the text files vsh.txt, game.txt, game150.txt, and pops.txt without the quotes. If you don’t have those text files, go ahead and make them and put them in the SEPLUGINS folder.
“ms0:/seplugins/remotejoylite.prx”
Note: Firmware 5.50 GEN firmwares do not need game150

Then include this line “flash0:/kd/usb.prx” in pops.txt
Your pops.txt should look something like this now (in this particular order):
“flash0:/kd/usb.prx
ms0:/seplugins/RemoteJoyLite.prx
ms0:/seplugins/popsloader.prx”

Now reboot your PSP holding the R button when you turn it on. This should take you to the debug menu. Go to plugins and enable the 3 Remotejoylite files.

You should be good to go. Run RemoteJoyLite_en application from the pack and plug in the USB from the PSP to the PC. You should be able to see your PSP screen on your PC now.

Next run xpadder and configure your arcade stick and map them to the keys. The keymapping for Remotejoylite can be configured in RemoteJoyLite_en by right clicking in the application window.

Online Gladiator… Salty Version and more…

So far what I’ve noticed is that people hate me online or something. I swear, I get on, and people are out to lame the shit out of me… Doctor Doom/Sentinel/Akuma(or Ryu). 90% of the battles that I see with a Doom, the person cant Doom at all. All I see is Doom’s just laming by using Plasma Beam and Photon Shock then maybe throw in a Sentinel assist and continue this lame combo.

In the less saltier side of news, event mode is out!!! I thought at first it was going to be like Soul Caliber’s Tower of Lost Soul’s in which different situations were given, but the general idea was okay, in my opinion. Too bad event mode didn’t last long as I beat every offline event in a matter of an hour or so.

I wish they would add more to the offline aspect of the game due to the inconsistency of lag online. If you get lucky and lag is on your side, you can totally win a game because your opponent would be at least one step behind. This is where I would hope they would fix the issue. For one, if Capcom hosted some sort of dedicated servers for MvC3, then no one could really complain about the lag due to it being based on how the servers are running.

After watching multiple series, mainly The Marvelous Adventures of Mike Ross and Gootecks, I really want to start recording my gameplay and uploading it to youtube, asking people for advice and combo links that might help. Watching Mike Ross and Gootecks has given me a lot of ideas on what to do and what NOT to do (though I have to admit, I don’t use the robot, I use my Tron)
